The last mile of Ethereum validator consolidations

Duration: NaN:NaN:NaN

Speaker: Dmitry Gusakov

Type: Lightning Talk

Expertise: Some familiarity with the topic

Event: Devcon

Date: Nov 2026

In the talk, I want to present the current state of Ethereum consolidations and provide a detailed overview of EIP-8148: Custom sweep threshold for validators. As one of the authors of this EIP, I believe that if implemented, it will make 0x02 validator withdrawal credentials available for any Ethereum operator, no matter the number of stake controlled by them. The core idea of the EIP is simple: allow node operators to determine the size of their 0x02 validators. Once the effective balance of the validator reaches the threshold, any excess is swept in a regular way. This feature will allow home stakers and other Ethereum operators with less than 2048 ETH controlled to consolidate while still benefiting from the automated sweep.
