Ream: Full Fulu Compatibility and Cross-Client Interoperability

Duration: NaN:NaN:NaN

Speaker: Tosin, Hans, Daniel Pham

Type: CLS - EPF Talk

Expertise: Some familiarity with the topic

Event: Devcon

Date: Nov 2026

Bringing Ream to Ethereum’s Fulu upgrade required changes across several core parts of the consensus client. This talk focuses on three areas: integrating PeerDAS and data availability into block processing, making synchronization work beyond controlled devnets, and achieving interoperability with other Ethereum consensus clients. We share the design decisions, implementation challenges, and failure modes we encountered while moving from specification-level support to live-network sync and mixed-client testing with Kurtosis. The goal is to give a practical view of what it takes to make a new consensus client actually work in the post-Fulu Ethereum network.
