Goodbye YOLO Signing

Duration: NaN:NaN:NaN

Speaker: Kaan Uzdogan

Type: Talk

Expertise: Some familiarity with the topic

Event: Devcon

Date: Nov 2026

Blind, or “YOLO,” signing remains one of Ethereum’s biggest UX problems. Existing solutions are fragmented, limited to common actions, or supported by few wallets. Now, an open ecosystem-wide solution is gaining momentum. ERC-7730, originally authored by Ledger, is being developed through the Clear Signing Working Group with Ledger, Trezor, WalletConnect, Fireblocks, Sourcify, and the Ethereum Foundation’s 1TS team. As a first step, Ledger’s metadata registry moved to the neutral stewardship of the ethereum GitHub organization. The work now focuses on making clear signing CROPS aligned and broadly usable: a permissionless onchain registry, auditor attestations through EAS, open-source SDKs, and support for common transactions. This talk will present current progress, the roadmap, practical examples, and ways to contribute. It will seek technical and directional feedback, surface open questions, and invite discussion on making clear signing the default across wallets and applications
