Delegated Execution Sharding (DES) is a novel architecture that aims to scale mainnet by using adaptive execution sharding with realtime load-balancing instead of rollup-centric data scaling and off-chain sequencing. Recursive zkEVM proving is used to aggregate parallel throughput across multiple concurrent proposers instead of the current monolithic single proposer-builder architecture. This is a fundamentally novel approach to sharding that eliminates many of the tight-coupling and load-balancing issues of past proposals.
