Curing Compliance Psychosis

Duration: NaN:NaN:NaN

Speaker: jimjim

Type: Talk

Expertise: Some familiarity with the topic

Event: Devcon

Date: Nov 2026

I live and grew up in the Netherlands, where Alexey is injustly is convicted. I see and feel the chilling effect every where. I see people doubt their intiution, that backdoors are dangerous and dystopian. I want to tell them that they are not crazy anarchists for seeing that. And that even the most complicated "proof of association set" solutions break something existentially important, consent. I want to go further into this disease and all the beatifull aspects of ethereum it breaks: permisionlessness, censorship resistance, fungibility and sovereignty. And the technical aproaches these compliance tools have. The cure is the realisation that we don't need complaince at the baselayer of your privacy protocol. Not in your circuit, contract and definitly **NOT** the **ethereum core protocol**. Any of these compliance schemes can be applied on any zk based privacy protocol, offchain, where the user can decide what information to volunteer with consent.
