Beyond GitHub: Building Open Source on Radicle

Duration: NaN:NaN:NaN

Speaker: Eleftherios Diakomichalis, Yorgos Saslis, Daniel Norman

Type: Workshop

Expertise: Some familiarity with the topic

Event: Devcon

Date: Nov 2026

2026 is shaping up to be a turning point for code collaboration. As centralized forges struggle under the growing demands of agentic development, more developers are looking beyond the platform model searching for resilience, ownership, and autonomy. Radicle has emerged as the most widely used decentralized alternative: a sovereign, p2p network for code collaboration built on Git, with more than 20,000 repositories actively hosted across the network. In this workshop, we’ll introduce Radicle as a permanent home for open source, not only for human developers, but for a new generation of autonomous software agents that need to discover repositories, propose changes and collaborate without relying on a centralized intermediary. We’ll explore how Radicle works, how developers can publish and collaborate on repositories, and what peer-to-peer code infrastructure makes possible for human and agentic workflows. Come with a laptop, leave with your code on Radicle.
