8004 is an Ethereum standard for AI agents. It defines registries for identity, reputation and validation, and feedback has to come from someone other than the agent's owner. At 8004scan we index these registries, and the hard part has been deciding what the numbers mean.
On 3 October, 8004scan counted 548,166 agents on 28 mainnets. Ethereum mainnet had 6% of them. Counting its L2s, Ethereum had 36% of agents and 90% of feedback. BNB Chain had 60% of agents and 2% of feedback. In July our health checker got valid results from 23,942 agents, and 8,631 had a healthy A2A or MCP service. Divide 8,631 by the whole registry and you get a misleading health rate.
I'll show the five things we write down for every metric: what it measures, the numerator, the denominator, when it was observed, and its known limits. Then I'll apply them to 8004scan data and to Alpharc, a market we run on Base and Robinhood Chain where trading calls are rated by other users' verified onchain trades.
